COMMON ADMISSION TEST - 2018

Important points at a glance

(Candidates are advised to read carefully the Academic prospectus 2018 published in the web site: http://cusat.nic.in )

  1. Submission of Online Application does not reserve any type of admission to the University which is subject to compliance with Rules and Regulations of the University in force at the time of admission.
  2. All Candidates applying for Common Admission Test 2018 (CAT 2018) should submit their applications online. International candidates and those applying for the B.Tech Lateral Entry programme (for Diploma-holders)/MBA/MTECH should also submit their applications online. Candidates for PhD/M Phil/ MA Translation-German & Russian / Diploma/Certificate programmes need not submit online application form. They can obtain the printed application form from the Departments concerned by paying the required application fee through Demand Draft, drawn in favour of "Registrar, CUSAT" payable at Ernakulam.

    Note:- Candidates having both Plus-Two and three year Diploma qualifications and intending to apply for both regular B Tech programmes, M.Sc (5 year Integrated) programmes and Lateral Entry to B Tech Programmes can submit the application with a single fee by choosing the concerned options
  4. The online application submission is a two-stage process.
  5. In the first stage the candidate should submit a few basic details such as Name, Date of Birth, email ID, mobile phone no, etc correctly so as to get the login credentials. Upon submission of the above details, the User name (email ID) and password created during this stage will be send to the candidate by SMS/email.
  6.  In the second stage the candidate should login using this user name (email ID) and the one time password (OTP). Immediately they will be asked to change their one time password (OTP). The candidate cannot proceed further without chaning the password. The candidate are also advised to write down and keep the user name (email ID) and the newly created password as these are essentially required for all further processes in the website. After creation of the new password the candidarte will be directed to his home  page where he/she should fill up all the other details required in the online registration form and upload the scanned immages of (only in  .jpg format) his/her recent passport size color photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB and 100 KB) and signature (3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with file size between 1 KB and 30 KB). Meticulous  attention shall be taken while filling up the application sicne no further changes can be made in the application after final submission.
    (Please note that once the application is confirmed by pressing the CONFIRM button, no further changes are possible)
  7. After confirmation and submission of the application the candidate will be prompted to pay the fees applicable for the programme/category selected by the candidate.  He/she  has to click on the "online  payment"  link for making the payment of fees. Payment of Application Fee should be done online using Net banking/Debit/Credit card. Candidates opting for test  centre at Dubai  shall have to select the option for the same  available in the online payment link to make the additional payment of Rs.10,000/- over and above  the required application fees
  8.  After successful payment of fees the candidate  will  be prompted to select the Test centre
  9. Do not send any document in original or copy to the University, unless otherwise specifically requested for.
  10. You should check your application status after three working days from the date of payment of fee. If your application is approved, you should take printout of the application confirmation page from the web site.
  11. If the application submitted by the candidate is not approved within the time, the candidate should take necessary action as indicated in the application status page.
  12. Candidates for M.Tech programmes who are awaiting results of GATE can apply online during the extended period also ie from15-03-2018 to 30-04-2018.
  13. The candidates should download the admit card for the Common Admission Test from the website (http://cusat.nic.in) w.e.f. 15-04-2018 to 29.04.2018 . Admit cards will not be sent to the candidate's address by post. Candidates must retain the  downloaded Admit Card till the admission process is over. (To be produced on r demand)
  14. No candidate will be permitted to appear for the Common Admission Test 2018 without making payment of fees and without a valid Admit Card.
  15. Eligibility criteria for each programme are given in the Academic Prospectus. The responsibility for ensuring satisfactory compliance to the prescribed criteria is vested solely with the applicant. Claims found untenable upon subsequent scrutiny shall result in summary disqualification of the applicant concerned and cancellation of any or all admission processes undergone  by him/her and the candidate will  not elegible for any refund of the fees paid by him/her.
  16. Kindly note that once a candidate  select his/her  elgible educational qualifications from the drop-down menu in the online application, they will be shown all the programmes for which they are eligible to apply. A candidate  can add as many programmes as  he/she likes to the box on the right side of the online application  form.  They can also remove the selected courses, if they  wish so.
  17. The choice of the Test Subject/Test Centre is the responsibility of the applicant alone and the options  once exercised in the Online Application Form shall be final and irrevocable. Even if a candidate takes the CAT according to a subject of his/her choice, but otherwise does not satisfy the conditions of eligibility prescribed in the Notification/Prospectus, he/she will not be considered for admission.
  18. The candidates are requested to visit their home page by logging on to the website (http://cusat.nic.in) regularly to keep themselves updated.
  19. The registration number allotted to the candidate should be quoted in all communications with the University.
  20. Claims/Requests for benefits under any reservations (Communal Reservation/ Special Reservations etc.) other than what is indicated by the candidate in the CAT 2018 online application, will not be considered at the time of counselling/admission.
  21. The University reserves the right to add, delete or amend any or all  of the stipulations regarding the reservation criteria, eligibility, intake, specialization, type of programmes, rules, regulations, fee structure etc. at any time without giving any notice and these  will be binding on  all the candidates seeking admission to the University.
  22. Candidates must remember that the Registration Number, Date of Birth, E-mail-id, Mobile Phone no, User-id (email-id), Password etc are vital informations to be kept confidentially by the candidate for future use.
