Academic programmes of CUSAT are open to all
Indian / foreign nationals irrespective of caste, creed,
race or sex, subject to their satisfying the prescribed
eligibility criteria / admission test requirements.
1.
Under Graduate Programmes
Admission to seats for the various under graduate
programmes offered at the School of Engineering,
Trikkakara, Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine
Engineering, Thrikkakara, Cochin University College of
Engineering Kuttanad, Pulincunnoo (including 10% NRI
seats) and under graduate programmes offered in the
Department of Instrumentation, Ship Technology, Polymer
Science and Rubber Technology and Centre of Excellence
in Lasers & Opto Electronic Sciences will be based on
the “common
Admission Test” (CAT) of CUSAT, open to all
Indian nationals with test centres in all district
headquarters in Kerala, and in selected centres outside
Kerala.
2.
Post Graduate Programmes and 5 year B.B.A. LL.B (Hons).
Admission to seats for the various post graduate
programmes and 5 year B.B.A. LL.B (Hons) programme of
the University will be based on the Common Admission
Test (CAT) of CUSAT, open to all Indian
nationals, with test centres in all district
headquarters in Kerala.
3.
Lateral Entry to III semester B.Tech Programme
The
University offers admission to the third semester of
B.Tech. Programmes in B.Tech. in Civil Engg., Computer
Science & Engg., Electrical & Electronics Engg.,
Electronics & Communication Engg., Information
Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Mechanical Engg.,
Polymer Science & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engg.
Conducted by the Cochin University College of
Engineering, Kuttanad and by the School of Engineering,
Trikkakara, Department of Instrumentation and Polymer
Science & Rubber Technology, Trikkakara campus through
Lateral Entry Scheme.
Candidates with Diploma awarded after undergoing a
regular course of 3 years’ duration recognized by the
Board of Technical Education of States, with not less
than 60% marks, will be considered for admission to the
B.Tech. programme through Lateral Entry Scheme.
The
maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July 2010.

Course Fee
Of the
total seats for B.Tech (Self-Financing) programme 50% are
free seats, 40% are payment seats and 10% are NRI payment
seats. The Free seats are earmarked for Keralite students.
For B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ship Building,
Instrumentation and Polymer Science & Engineering 10% of the
seats are reserved for students on all India basis (All
India Quota) and the remaining seats for Keralites. For all
regular Post-Graduate programmes including subsidised
Post-Graduate programmes like M.C.A, M.B.A (International
Business), M.B.A (Travel & Tourism) and 5 year Integrated
MSc in Photonics programme 10% of the seats are set apart
for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the
remaining for Keralites. For Post-Graduate programmes under
Self-Financing sector 50% of the seats are given for
Keralites, 10% for NRI’s and the remaining 40 % open to all.
A
candidate will be considered as a ‘Keralite’ for the limited
purpose of eligibility for admission, if
a.
He/She or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR
b.
He/She has been a resident of Kerala for a period of
5 years within a period of 12 years OR
c.
He/She has
undergone his/her school studies from standards VIII to XII
in educational institutions(s) in Kerala.
d.
Children of
All India Service (AIS) officers (Non Keralites) allotted to
Kerala circle are deemed to be “Keralites’ (GO (Rt) No. 822/H.Edn
dated 29/05/2008). But they will not be eligible for
Communal/Special Reservations.
Candidates claiming the Keralite status should invariably
produce
at the time
of interview / admission,
any one of the following certificates.
v
The
certificate of Birth / Residence of the candidate or his/her
father or mother from the Village Officer / Tahsildar or
from a competent authority of local body,
OR
v
The
‘Certificate showing school studies in Kerala from Standards
VIII to XII’ from the Head of School where the candidate
completed his / her study in Standard XII, OR
v
True
copy of the relevant page of the SSLC of the candidate’s
father / mother showing the place of birth in Kerala with
corroborative evidence showing the relationship between the
candidate and the parent,
OR
v
True
copy of the relevant page of the passport of the candidate
or either of parents issued by the Government of India
showing place of birth in Kerala with corroborative evidence
showing the relationship between the parent and candidate,
OR
v
True
copy of birth certificate of candidate or his / her, father
/ mother showing the place of birth in Kerala with
corroborative evidence showing the relationship between the
candidate and father / mother of whose birth certificate is
being produced
For claiming Keralite-AIS (All India Service), certificate
from competent authority should be attached.
